The Skincare Step That Shouldn’t Be “Mist”

Facial sprays – the skincare step that cannot be “mist”! Whether you spritz during your skincare routine, during makeup application, or throughout the day, facial sprays and tonics are for everyone. Our facial tonics at boscia provide amazing benefits and disperse a fine spray, great for your everyday skincare routine or for freshening up makeup throughout the day. Find our top reasons to spritz your skin below!

Misting GirlTone and Treat. Repeat.

Introducing facial sprays. These quick fixes are the key to elevating your skincare ritual. Today, many facial sprays go beyond hydration to now contain treatment for both instant and lasting results. Our Clear Complexion Tonic prevents and treats congestions and breakouts in the skin in a spritz. Following cleansing, spray tonic onto skin and continue with your usual skincare routine and makeup if desired. Balancing Facial Tonic boosts the efficacy of your treatments by prepping skin and balancing the skin’s surface. Both of our tonics contain our signature Botanical Blend. In this liquid form, the Botanical Blend treatment penetrates the skin quickly and delivers results instantly – thus, always use tonic immediately after cleansing. Spraying throughout the day will continue to treat the skin while adding controlled hydration for clear, healthy skin.

Backstage Must-Have

On set, many makeup artists keep a brush in one hand and a facial spray in the other! For flawless foundation application, misting is a must. Our tonics should be used prior to skincare and makeup application to enhance your look. Spritzing a buffing brush or Beauty Blender prior to use with your complexion product not only allows for smoother application, it also treats and hydrates the skin to give a plumped and healthy look. This will work to sheer out the product while infusing skincare elements into your application. Our tonics provide a cushion between makeup and skin, preventing the dreaded “caked” look. Our Balancing Facial Tonic is a favorite among the boscia team because it benefits any skin type and imparts a radiant glow to skin.

“Mochi Hada”

Mochi Hada means “baby-soft” in Japanese. At boscia, we take pride in developing skincare to help you achieve mochi hada skin. Our Balancing Facial Tonic hydrates and evens skin tone, while our Clear Complexion Tonic gently eliminates breakouts and regulates oil production. Both of our tonics work to prepare and prime the skin for your usual skincare ritual by creating a perfected, balanced canvas. For mochi hada skin throughout the day, spray tonic onto skin to refresh and rehydrate the skin.

Face Chart 101: What your breakouts mean

Although pesky breakouts may seem random, they typically link back to specific causes. Using our face chart, identify your problem areas and follow our suggestions for treating them!

Woman's face

PINK: Forehead

The forehead tends to break out due to stress, or inadequate amounts of sleep. If you don’t make drinking water a habit, you may also experience blemishes in this area. As a general rule, health experts advise consuming half of your body weight in ounces of water daily. Meaning, if you weigh 120 pounds, you should ideally drink 60 ounces of water a day. Avoiding sugary and caffeinated drinks can also improve skin conditions in this area.

GREEN: T-Zone

The T-Zone area includes some of the forehead area and the area down the nose. This visually creates a “T”, thus the name. Breakouts in the t-zone can trace back to eating too many salty foods, and not enough fruits and vegetables. Experts also suggest excessive consumption of dairy and alcohol can contribute to congestion in this area. Typically, cleaning up snacks choices and opting for less salty, more nutritionally balanced choices will help alleviate acne in this area.

PURPLE: Cheeks

Have you ever tried a new product, only to break out the next day on your cheeks? Often times, the cheeks indicate sensitivity to ingredients or products we use. Another cause of breakouts in this area can stem from phone usage – yes, your cell phone! Cell phones typically carry a lot of bacteria from daily use and can cause breakouts upon contact with the face. A major hidden culprit of acne in this area can often occurs in our sleep. Pillow cases coated with hair products, skin products and sometimes fragrance can easily irritate the skin and cause bacterial breakouts to this sensitive area. Ensure you wash your pillowcase frequently, and do not sleep in makeup!

BLUE: Chin and Jaw

Breakouts occurring around the chin and jaw typically results from hormonal changes in the body. You may find that closer to that time of the month, your skin goes haywire. The heightened level of hormones during this time of the month can frequently translate into uncomfortable acne on the chin and jaw area. Ensuring proper cleansing, keeping hands away from the face, and using a spot treatment can help eliminate and treat these blemishes. For extreme cases, many physicians will suggest birth control to regulate unruly hormones if the breakouts persist.

Get Schooled! Day vs Night Skincare

With class nearly back in session, boscia wants to take a moment to educate our wonderful readers on the differences between your skincare routine during the day and at night. Below, find our breakdown of skincare routines for each level of skin-savvy expertise!

Our frequent readers know that you can combine steps by finding a great moisturizer that integrates an SPF into the mix! But for those curious as to why two moisturizers can benefit the skin, read on!

Why use a different moisturizer for day and night?

oil-free nightly hydrationMoisturizers for daytime use typically contain a lighter formula – better for controlling oil-production oil free daily hydrationthroughout the day, or sensitive skin that develops congestion easily. Daytime moisturizers also often contain an SPF. SPF creates a protective barrier to deflect the harmful rays of the sun. boscia uses Broad Spectrum SPF in our moisturizers – meaning our sunscreen protects from both UVA and UVB rays (the Aging and Burning rays).

Night moisturizers tend to moisturize the skin more deeply than daytime moisturizers. The skin restores itself at night and takes this time to soak in the moisture from your night cream and repair itself with any additional benefits found in your night cream.

For those who prefer to use only one moisturizer, ensure your skin stays protected by applying a sunscreen on top of your moisturizer during the day. Proceed to use the moisturizer alone at night time.

We suggest our staple moisturizers – Oil-free Daily Hydration Broad Spectrum SPF 15 for day time, and Oil-free Nightly Hydration for night time use!
